| Pórtico beginnings |

Pórtico began in 1965 in Vigo as a high quality and prestigious local shop. In 1994 facing a global and competitive market, a wider project begins. Pórtico starts its wholesale bisiness based on imported items for other Spain and Portugal retailers. Pórtico Básico first retail shop opens on May 1995. The concept is a casual and young shop for gift and decoration items at a good value. Pórtico main headquarters are based in Mos (Pontevedra). 1998 is the year for a new concept: Milenio Cosas de Casa. They are retail shops designed to show decoration & gift items in cities below 50.000 people. La nave de Pórtico was also established in 1998. This is a shop thought to show our furniture items. They are big shops placed in industrial areas in the big cities surroundings. In 1999 Pórtico launches the first retail shop in Portugal and, also, in South América. This is the beginning of the international expansion of the company.

Nowadays Pórtico is a dynamic business supported by the strength and the ambition of its people. As a result of Pórtico team successful work, the turnover was increased by 100 times since 1992 and own and partnered shops are over 100. With an average age of 30 years, more tan 1.200 people make the Pórtico family in over 10 countries. Pórtico central warehouse area is 50.000 m2. More than 5.000 containers are received and over 20 million items units are moved every year. Pórtico catalogue has over 12.000 different items 50% of which are new product introductions every day. |
